Contact Faculty: David RoonIdea: Assess whether species that are proposed for listing- but not listed- (also known as 'candidate species) under category 2 of the U.S. Endangered Species Act see improvements in key metrics (distribution, abundance, growth/recruitment, etc.) compared to species that are in ecological trouble... but are not included as candidate species. Context: Please see this editorial for background. The student who undertakes this project will need to define strategies for literature review and meta-analysis to address this question. This is an important 'unknown' in the evolving functioning of the Endangered Species Act.
