Hi. I'm Sarah Rose, a second year ECB student. I would like to apply for the Taylor Wilderness Research Station internships this summer, and would like to help them start a community garden.
So far my list of topics to look into are: -reconciliation ecology (in terms of gardens being useful to both people and animals) -whether or not growing food locally really is more "sustainable" in this case -using Taylor as a case study for the appropriateness of small-scale agriculture at wilderness field sites -developing a sustainable food production plan
Any suggestions/directions to look into would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Sarah- thanks for posting this. It's a great idea... and hopefully it will give other ECB students ideas for creative approaches to the thesis.
I know that you and I have talked about this a bit. I think that a key thing will be to link your idea (and your work at the station) to some level of literature (or direct) review of the state of gardening at a range of facilities (park sites, field stations, etc.) that might face some of the same questions as Taylor.
I'm glad you're doing this, though, and excited to see what you emerge with!
